“It’s been a long time coming, but Buffalo’s housing market is booming,” reports LaMonica Peters for Spectrum News. “The Washington Post created an interactive website that places Erie County and Buffalo at the top of the list for increased property values. Job growth and an improved economy have helped the area’s values rise.”

“‘We’ve always been a very affordable area. So when we’ve been compared to other large cities in the past, we didn’t seem to fare very well. Now with the economic growth and everything that’s taking place in all areas of the city, we are starting to see some really great appreciation,’ said Barry Chubb, Coldwell Banker Chubb Real Estate President.”

“One of the most dramatic increases has been in [Buffalo’s] Elmwood Village. Zip code 14222 has seen values increase more than 100% since 2004… Elmwood Village is packed with shops, restaurants, and fun-filled events. Those who live there said they’re proud of how vibrant the neighborhood has become over the years.”
