After 58 years, Philadelphia to cover I-95 highway

According to Smart Growth Online, it looks like the funding is finally in place for an 11-acre park to be located above a portion of interstate highway I-95 that has cut through downtown Philadelphia since it was constructed in the 1960s. The park will cover the highway between Chestnut and Walnut Streets, “connecting the Delaware River waterfront with the rest of the city. The project plan dates back a full decade, to 2007, but the notion of draping the highway with a park goes back decades more.”
