“City of North Tonawanda officials will host a community conversation from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday [October 6th] at the North Tonawanda Farmers’ Market, 310 Robinson Street, to discuss plans for $2.5 million in state Smart Growth funds,” reports the Niagara Gazette.
“In October 2017, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the city was a recipient of $2.5 million as part of the $20 million Smart Growth Community Fund Buffalo Billion II initiative. North Tonawanda, as well as the other municipalities that received $2.5 million each — the City of Dunkirk, City of Lackawanna and Village of Gowanda — are focusing on projects that utilize existing infrastructure to support placemaking, walkable communities and sustainable development.”
“…North Tonawanda officials say they have undertaken the MomeNTum Downtown Placemaking Plan that will leverage the Smart Growth Community Funds to foster economic prosperity by promoting walkability, vibrancy, urban development and local sense of place and quality of life. As part of this plan, and in order to ensure that the local community is given a voice in the planning process, the project team, led by Joy Kuebler Landscape Architect, PC, has extended an open invitation to community members and leaders, residents, business owners, and stakeholders to attend a series of Public Workshops and Walking Tours of key areas throughout downtown NT.”
