Buffalo Rising reports: as development continues to surge in downtown Buffalo, historic building stock is in increasingly short supply. Adaptive re-use projects have formed the backbone of Buffalo’s downtown renaissance largely because of the traditional urban form of the buildings themselves and streetscapes they define. Developers are now looking beyond downtown’s traditional boundaries to the near East Side where, despite the effects of decades of decline, an inventory of historic buildings remain along such streets as Broadway and Genesee.
